Is Everyone Really Equal – Equality and Abortion

Are all people created equal? Is everyone really equal? It is a controversial topic that we have debated and shed blood, sweat and tears over for generations. An entire war, the Civil War, was fought over this very topic. But amongst this whole argument, there is a genuine hypocrisy to be exposed by the very groups of people who scream the loudest attempting to drown out those who truly believe in and are fighting daily for TRUE equality.

On January 22nd, the Governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, signed in to state law what is deemed New York’s “Reproductive Health Act” further strengthening what is probably the greatest inequality in our society today.

What the Bible Says

The Bible is clear on the issue of equality. There is no gray area on this topic. God made this issue a non-topic from the very beginning of His word. In the beginning of the Bible, Genesis 1:27 states, “So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them“. Mark 12:31 states, “The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’There is no commandment greater than these.” Galations 3:28 says, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”Equality

The list goes on and on. God has told us that we are ALL created in His own image, we are all a reflection of Him, we are all one and the same in His eyes.

Let’s go even further here. Focus your attention on the word “created“. If God “created” us all as equal, precisely when were we all “created”?

When Does God “Create” Us?

The word “creation” is important here. If God “created” us all as equal, when exactly does God recognize His “creation”, us? Those who support abortion attempt to justify the act of abortion itself by depicting the unborn as non-human. In the eyes of the abortion supporter, a child does not begin life, isn’t “created”, until he/she exits the womb. Again, let’s turn to the bible:

CreateIn Jeremiah 1:5, God said, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” Psalm 139: 13-16 states, “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.”

The Bible makes it clear without question. God knew us even before conception. While we as a society argue the topic concerning when a baby becomes a human with rights, God has already settled it. We are known to him long before conception. Conception is simply the act of bringing God’s intention to reality through us as living beings.

Equality for Everyone?

Who are we to take life into our own hands? We have to be careful here not to intertwine the topics of capital punishment and war which also are spoken heavily about in the bible. Here, we are simple speaking on the topic of the conceived unborn child who cannot protect him/herself.baby in womb

Political parties running our country are quick to take a stance on the topic of equal rights. Groups such as Black Lives Matter, the AFL CIO, Anti Defamation League, Project Equality, the Rainbow Coalition, and more were formed to take hard-lined stances ensuring equal rights for the people they represent. But what about the unborn?

Again, we have shown above that God has already defined WHEN a person becomes a person. That being proven, babies, born and unborn, have the same equal rights as those of us old enough to join and take a stance with one of these organizations mentioned above, right? Absolutely it is right. We are ALL equal and we ALL have rights, even the unborn.

AbortionSo who are we to make that decision to end a life? Job 12:10 states, “In His hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.” Deuteronomy 27:25 says, “Cursed is the one who takes a bribe to slay an innocent person.” Exodus 20:13 states, “You shall not murder.”

Sadly, and hypocritically, the very groups mentioned above, and for the most part, the entire democratic party, are those who both support the ideology of abortion yet push the topic of equal rights. Hypocrisy at it’s finest.

God’s Stance on Abortion

In the Bible, Exodus 21:22-25 expands very specifically on God’s love and accountability for the unborn child. Further, in Psalm 82:3-4 God provides us all direction to defend and protect the weak.

Anyone who calls themselves a Christian cannot debate the word of God, The Bible. BabyWe cannot pick and choose which portions of the Bible we want to agree or disagree with. Further, we cannot “interpret” the Bible to fit OUR beliefs. The Bible is clear and gives clear direction.

Conclusion

You see, if we truly believe that God is our creator, and God see’s everyone from every gender, race, age and ethnic heritage as equal, we simply cannot ignore ANY person within His creation. Any by God’s own definition, he creates us even BEFORE we exit the womb. With that, yes, even the unborn are EQUAL and are included, or should be included, in the argument over equal rights.
